In this course, learners will learn about storytelling and animation while coding a robot story in Scratch. Participants will write and code a story with a setting, dialogue, and characters. At the beginning of class, learners will be introduced to the theme and will get story starters that will spark their imagination.
The teacher will then demonstrate how they can create a backdrop, add characters, and make them say something in scratch. Depending on their speed and coding experience they may also learn how to add additional scenes to the story.
This course is supportive of experimentation and tinkering. We will celebrate the sparks of creativity that they have during class and embrace the different ways that their individual stories may turn out.
If their devices allow screen sharing, learners will have the opportunity to share their projects and see each other's amazing creations. Learners are never required to share but rather given the opportunity.
